Proceeds from the UNWG Annual International Bazaar including the sale of the lottery tickets, are solely used to finance projects throughout the world. These are micro projects with a clearly defined purpose in favour of disadvantaged children and young women in the fields of health, education, vocational training and/or security. Applications for funding can only be submitted by UNWG-Geneva members. The applications are screened by the Projects Sub-Committee and the allocation of funds voted by the Executive Committee of the UNWG-Geneva. To date the UNWG-Geneva has financed over 2000 projects in more than 100 countries.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The scholarship programme aims at helping disadvantaged children attend secondary education for up to five years. The programme, which is financed through the Children’s Walk Initiative and proceeds form Kiosk, is intended for students whose parents are unable to pay for their schooling or are orphaned. It aims at offering financial support for the education and vocational training to students teaching them life skills thus helping them to grow to their full potential and hopefully lead productive and useful lives. Currently the UNWG is supporting five multi-year scholarship programmes in Madagascar, Pakistan, Tanzania, Nicaragua and Sri Lanka where almost 100 students have been benefiting from this support. To date the UNWG has been able to help students in over 20 countries finish their school. Applications for funding can only be submitted by a UNWG-Geneva member.
