Special Event on Art Restoration

Organized by Carmen Queisser de Stockalper, a small group of UNWG members gathered at the Geneva Freeport or Ports Francs. The group was welcomed by Dr. Aurélia Chevalier, a distinguished Heritage Restorer and true expert in modern and contemporary art conservation. With over two decades of dedicated service, Dr. Chevalier has helped preserve some of the 20th century’s most iconic works, drawing on her deep understanding of art history and the science of materials.

Along with Dr. Isabelle Santoro, they shared their insights into the materials and methods of 20th-century painters and offered us a unique glimpse into the historical, technical, and scientific heart of art conservation. It was a powerful reminder of the delicate balance between science and creativity, preservation, and legacy
