Projects
Through its project funding programme, the United Nations Women’s Guild Geneva (UNWG Geneva) supports community-based initiatives around the world that improve the lives of disadvantaged children and empower young women. The projects focus on areas such as access to healthcare, education, vocational training and safe living conditions.
UNWG Geneva finances micro-projects with a duration of up to six months, providing grants of up to CHF 6,000. Funding requests are submitted by UNWG Geneva members and are carefully assessed by the Vice-President for Projects before final approval by the Executive Committee.
Over the years, this programme has enabled the Guild to support more than 2,000 projects in over 120 countries. These initiatives are funded through the generous contributions generated by the Guild’s main annual fundraising event, the UNWG Annual International Bazaar, including proceeds from the lottery.

Shabab & Sabaya Alkher Charitable Organization
Shabab & Sabaya Alkher Charitable Organization, established in 2009, supports mothers and children, with a particular focus on children with cancer. The organisation also provides water coolers in schools, small income-generating projects for widows, and meals for underprivileged students. This project aimed to improve conditions for children undergoing chemotherapy by helping prevent infection and inflammation. The funds were used to purchase electric beds, anti-bacterial wall panels, a split air conditioner, mini fridge, thermometer, blood pressure gauge, hygiene and sterilisation equipment, water cooler, cupboard, first aid kit, trail holders, and anti-bacterial curtains.
