The annual Bazaar at the Palais des Nations has been one of the highlights in the calendar of International Geneva for many years. Organized by the United Nations Women's Guild, this festive moment of solidarity, generosity and sharing unites the international community for an important cause - to improve the lives of children across the world.
To this day, millions of children and young people remain excluded from opportunities essential for their development and dignity. As Honorary President of the Women's Guild and Director-General of the United Nations at Geneva, I remain committed to promoting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, which embody the highest aspirations for a bright future for the world's children.
Our world is confronted with rising conflicts, increasing extreme weather events, stark inequalities and persistent discrimination. The need to promote peace, advance sustainable development, safeguard human rights and foster dialogue has never been more urgent. These aims are our shared endeavor that draws strength from every voice, idea, and joint action.
The Bazaar is a consistent reminder of the strength of solidarity. The funds raised by the Women's Guild support projects that provide children living in precarious situations of vulnerability with food, healthcare, shelter and education, while fostering values of peace, equality and human rights.
I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the members and volunteers of the Women's Guild for their enduring commitment to the important cause of leaving no child behind.
