The United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) and the United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG) have collaborated for over five decades to support children and promote sustainable development. Investing in a more equitable and peaceful world for children and young people has long been a core objective of the United Nations, and remains a priority ahead, as highlighted in the Pact for the Future recently adopted by UN Member States. This year again, across our world, millions of children and young people are deprived of the opportunities they need to reach their full potential and fulfil their human rights, especially those in vulnerable situations. As Honorary President of UNWG and Director-General of UNOG, I am committed to work with you all to cultivate a culture of peace in our communities, our countries, and our world. As our planet faces unprecedented challenges with conflicts, inequalities and discrimination increasing globally, we must continue to promote peace, dialogue, and human rights for all. Peace is not the objective of governments alone. It is a collective endeavour that requires all voices, ideas, and actions. Every year, we proudly host the International Bazaar at the UN in Geneva. The collected funds support concrete projects, helping vulnerable children with access to essentials like food, health, shelter, and educational opportunities while raising their awareness of a culture of peace. I extend my gratitude to the many members and volunteers of the UNWG who work tirelessly to make this event possible. Inspired by the UNWG's dedication, it is my honour to stand united for children around the world, and to work daily to promote peace and safeguard our planet for current and future generations.
