16 September 2026

Ambassador Thomas Gürber, Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations and his spouse, Mrs. Valerie Nadrai, hosted members of the International Circle for Geneva and representatives from the United Nations Women’s Guild for a special evening at the Swiss Residence.

The gathering brought together spouses and women ambassadors of the diplomatic corps, along with female leaders from the United Nations community.

In his remarks, Ambassador Gürber highlighted the importance of Switzerland’s welcoming policy and the valuable role of both Circles in fostering dialogue, connection and friendship across the international community. Mrs. Nadrai also warmly welcomed the guests, contributing to the evening’s convivial atmosphere.

A highlight of the gathering was the presence of Joël Dicker, the internationally acclaimed Geneva‑born author and publisher. In a lively conversation moderated by a journalist from RTS, he shared insights into his writing journey, creative world and deep connection to Geneva, offering guests a personal glimpse into the inspirations behind his work.

The subsequent dialogue with the guests allowed for further reflection on Geneva’s cultural identity. The evening was concluded with a reception against the background of beautiful Lake Geneva.

The United Nations Women’s Guild warmly thanked Ambassador Gürber and Mrs. Nadrai for their generous hospitality and for hosting such a memorable evening.
